Sophie has written throughout her life. From stories she read to her teddy bears to articles for her university's student newspaper, Sophie has always been obsessed with words and the way we use them.
Non-fiction
As part of the founding team of Twinkl Digest, Sophie wrote hundreds of articles for trainee and early career teachers, helping them navigate the (often stormy) initial years of their careers.
Continuing in the education sector, Sophie has written content for a range of companies including Discovery Education, Propello and Primrose Kitten Academy.
Elsewhere, Sophie's writing has appeared in Breathe magazine as well as the Mslexia newsletter.
comedy
Sophie completed a two-year part-time MA in Comedy Writing in 2025. She has created and written a range of work, including two episodes of a family sitcom about three generations of women living under one roof (with the pilot episode longlisted in the 2025 Short Com Sitcom competition), an audio sitcom set in an agricultural museum, and a comedy drama about a lonely millennial woman and a rescue dog. She is so taken with the latter idea that she is currently writing her first novel based on this concept.
Sophie's comedy writing has featured in the Indie magazine Chaff, and she recently performed her own comedy flash fiction across all BBC Midlands radio stations on their Upload show, where she was also interviewed about her comedy writing and inspiration.
She was recently commissioned by a private client to write a short story for someone's 80th birthday, resulting in a comedy crime story about someone who puts a cat in a bin. If you'd like a comedy short story featuring your loved one, please get in touch.
